The Marshal's Plan

As a Marshal at GORKI Golf & Resort, I have had the great privilege of seeing thousands of swings by our esteemed Club Members and distinguished guests of our resort. Mostly foreign guests. Very often excellent players with extensive golfing experience.

Each of their swings is ideal for the owner, but the score rarely depends on the beauty of the swing. A lot is determined by the accuracy of the strikes and the repeatability of the swing, and not by how perfect it looks for the strict, discerning audience. The main pleasure is to watch the game of good players, who know their game perfectly - with its advantages and, most importantly, disadvantages. Therefore, they clearly understand exactly how they will correct their usual mistakes, which manifest themselves with the inherent probability of these mistakes. Differences from the ideal do not shock them, misses do not become cyclical, and do not significantly affect the final score. Such golfers and golfers take into account that their long-term results imply the possibility of being in a native or water hazard a couple of times. But this knowledge helps them achieve a good score. They have no mistakes - they have an understanding of the nuances and quality of their game.

It is especially delightful to observe this understanding. It allows me to plan the educational and training process now for my many students. And now, combining the work of a Marshal and a golf instructor, I look forward to new knowledge of the game and the opportunity to translate it into our joint success with my students. The more I see other people playing, the more it benefits the students.

The peculiarity of Russian golf is that we do not have many golfers, but there are a lot of people who have become interested in golf and take lessons to get muscle’s joy, and not to be winners of even amateur tournaments. There are also those who are focused on high results. But, no matter how ambitious their goals are, we have a clear understanding - to learn effective swing and to know how an ordinary swing differs from an approximate professional level, this is not  unnecessary knowledge - it is saving your time and increasing your own pleasure.

Yes, you can and should enjoy the game no matter how well you hit the ball, deliver it to the green or closer to the green, chip and roll stakes. But the pleasure from the correct implementation of this process is much higher. Not everyone may have enough time and desire to thoroughly consolidate the correct technique. But even if this does not happen, good hits come much earlier, often already in the first lessons. And along with them comes muscular joy and cognitive pleasure from mastering a previously unknown game.
